Chaltén with viewpoints and lunch

Early in the morning, we depart from Calafate. After traveling approximately 30 km east, we will take the legendary Route 40, following, for much of our journey, the eastern shore of Lake Argentino and the banks of the Santa Cruz River. We will then reach the La Leona River, which gives its name to the La Estela ranch's rest stop and hotel. There, we will stop to learn more about the history of the La Leona rest stop and hotel, where those who wish can enjoy a hot drink and homemade cakes.

We will depart for El Chaltén and, after visiting the Chorrillo del Salto waterfall about 4 km from the town and having lunch at La Tapera, after a 45-minute moderate walk, we will arrive at the Mirador de los Cóndores viewpoint, a panoramic point from where you can see the main surrounding mountains, the valley of the Las Vueltas river and the town of El Chaltén.

The path passes between the steppe and patches of ñire forest; to complete this panoramic view we will also enjoy the Mirador de las Águilas, the path begins at a fork before reaching the Mirador de los Cóndores.

After passing a small lagoon, you reach a viewpoint where Lake Viedma, Túnel Bay, and Pyramid Hill unfold their beauty. This circuit requires a total of one hour of walking.

Around 5:30 p.m. the return to El Calafate begins.
